About Jessica

Hi, I’m Jessica Slavin, AMFT (140590)

Perhaps you are feeling anxious, depressed, alone, or not understood by your partner. Drawing from both my professional training and personal experiences, I deeply empathize with the challenges that life can present. I have not only witnessed but also personally experienced the transformative power of therapy in resolving these issues, fostering self-acceptance, and embracing positive change.

My educational background includes a Master of Science degree in counseling with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, both earned at California State University, Northridge. I have provided psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families at the Southern California Counseling Center (SCCC). My journey into mental wellness began with volunteer work at Didi Hirsch Suicide Prevention Center and as a behavior interventionist for children and adolescents in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

I provide individual and couples therapy entirely online for people located in California.

Areas of Expertise

  • Anxiety

Are you struggling with overthinking and negative thoughts? Do you notice body sensations such as a racing heart? Calm the body and mind with somatic exercises.

  • Depression

You feel disconnected from yourself and the people around you. You want the fog to lift, but may feel lost due to a sense of loneliness.

  • Trauma

Trauma is a psychological response to a distressing event or series of events and can trigger a range of emotional responses. Using somatic tools can create safety in the body.

  • Grief

Different types of grief are unique to each individual. Losing a loved one, the ending of a relationship, and ambiguous loss can all contribute to painful emotions that cause emotional suffering.

  • Self-Esteem

You may question yourself and worry about how people perceive you. Lack of confidence can lead to perfectionism, social isolation, and codependency.

  • Couples

Do you find yourself shutting down, yelling, or frequently dysregulated? Learn ways to empathize and connect with your partner, leading to a fulfilling relationship.

Jessica’s Approach

As a therapist, my intention is to ensure that you feel understood and accepted while working towards your goals. Together, we will explore your past, how it has shaped your present, and how to create a healthier and more meaningful future. My therapeutic approach is holistic, incorporating mindfulness and self-compassion. I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method to equip couples with effective communication skills to navigate conflicts and strengthen emotional connections. I also use a person-centered approach to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment. I incorporate CBT, EMDR, and psychodynamic treatment into my work. Clients often describe me as warm, non-judgmental and appreciate the guidance they receive in improving communication within their relationships.

Services & Fees

I offer individual and couples counseling. My services are accessible through online therapy sessions, serving clients throughout California. To assist you in taking the first step toward achieving your goals, I offer free consultations.

The individual session fee is $200, and couples counseling is $225 for 50 minutes. I am an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance. I can issue a superbill to submit for your insurance. Please follow up with your insurance to learn about your benefits.
